Description
Biographical sketch of George Pence Snyder, or George Snyder, "vice president and secretary of the Urie-Snyder Iron Works Company." Born in Indiana in 1861 and coming to Kansas City about 1879 "in the employ of Perrin & Snyder, wholesale dealers in fancy groceries, as a traveling salesman" before joining "the Urie Boiler & Machine Company" in the 1880s and taking it over in 1905 with "small boiler and machine shop on West [5th Street]," later expanded to "a large plant covering an entire block on the Kansas City belt line tracks at Sheffield," with residence at 3516 Michigan Avenue.
