Biographical sketch of Michael Hofmann (1828-1890), proprietor of a "wholesale liquor business here" in Kansas City, a native of Germany emigrating to America in 1854 and coming to Kansas City in 1881, establishing his store at 319 West 5th Street and dying "at his old home at No. 918 Penn street, a palatial residence," with his widow, Johanna Bauch Hofmann, moving to 2221 Troost Avenue.
