Photo and bio of Joseph Van Clief Karnes, or Joseph Karnes, also known as J. V. C. Karnes, a Kansas City lawyer. Description of his life and career. He was born in Boone County, Missouri, in 1841 and started out as a teacher at Missouri University in 1862 before coming to Kansas City in 1865 as a lawyer. He became co-founder and president of the Kansas City Bar Association and the Kansas City Law Library Association, etc.
