Biographical sketches of Reverend John Sleet Major, or John Major (1788-1872), and Alexander Majors (1814-1900). Description of John Major as "a fine type of the pioneer preacher" and native of Virginia moving to Clay County, Missouri, in 1850 after serving in the War of 1812 in Kentucky. Description of Alexander Majors as a "scout, ranchman, freighter and mail contractor" native to Kentucky and starting his western freighting business in Independence, later associated with the Pony Express out of Saint Joseph.
