Biographical sketch of John Kelly, a hotelier and former railroad conductor born in Ireland in 1839 and emigrating to Kansas City in 1869. Description of his later career as hotel manager of "the Morrison House" hotel in 1870 and then "proprietor of the St. George Hotel, at the corner of Mulberry street and Union avenue" in 1871 and "the Astor House" hotel in 1878 across the street, with his own "home in the old Sherman House at the foot of Grand avenue."
