Portrait and biographical sketch of Colonel John Haskell, an architect and quartermaster of the state of Kansas, born in Vermont in 1832 and moving to Kansas in 1857 and becoming a Union officer, desigining many buildings in Kansas, including the following: "State Capitol, State University, Washburn College, Bethany College, Chase County Court House, Greenwood Country Court House," and several others with his partner Lewis Wood under the firm name Haskell & Wood.
