This engineering/architectural company was founded here in 1914 and is known for its work in transportation, bridges, aviation, sports architecture, and urban design. The current CEO is Scott Smith and Harvey Hammond is the executive chairman. The company has 60 offices nationwide with over 3,000 employees including 600 here in Kansas City. "HNTB built its reputation in public infrastructure by designing movable bridges, the first modern turnpike and a significant portion of the interstate highway system." The company had a merger with Kivett and Myers in 1975 and acquired Thomas K. Dyer Inc. in 1982. The trade publication "Engineering News-Record" consistently has the company in its top rankings. Includes a picture of CEO Smith.
