Description
Sue Gentry, journalist and former city editor of the Independence Examiner from 1929 to 1979, died October 11, 2004. Gentry, a local authority on President Harry Truman, was highly respected by President Truman and his family. She also served as president of the Missouri Press Women in 1950 and the Greater Kansas City Chapter of Women in Communications from 1954 to 1956. In 1948 she helped organize the Jackson County Historical Society and served as its president and journal editor.
