File contains information on 1990s mayor of Kansas City, Reverend Emanuel Cleaver. A chronological biography of his career with several illustrations, describing his start as a political radical arriving in Kansas City in the late 1960s, meeting with Leon Jordan, head of Freedom, Incorporated, in 1969, losing a 1970 race for the Missouri legislature, elected to the City Council in 1979, becoming head of Freedom, Incorporated in 1980, and becoming mayor in 1991. Also contains articles about his first months as an elected member of the national House of Representatives in 2004 and 2005.
