Photos and biographical article about Adriance Van Brunt (1836-1913) and John Van Brunt (1855-1924), brothers and architects not related to fellow Kansas City architects Henry Van Brunt and Courtlandt Van Brunt. Adriance a native of New Jersey, member of Kansas City's "first active Park Board," and namesake of Van Brunt Boulevard (for his work in developing the park and boulevard system). John also a native of New Jersey, "architect for the Park Board," and "influential in introducing English residential designs to Kansas City."

The following local structures were designed by Adriance and John Van Brunt: the 1888 J. W. Merrill residence at 26th and Baltimore Avenues (demolished), the 1907 R. M. Goodlett residence at 45th and Main Street (demolished), the 1910 Edward Dickinson residence at 810 West 52nd Street, the 1912 residence at 5208 Belleview Boulevard, the 1906 Dr. J. E. Logan residence at 200 East 44th Street, the 1908 B. T. Whipple residence at 4538 Warwick Boulevard, the 1899 Bond Shoe Building at 312 West 8th Street, the 1903 B. Adler and Company building at 908-910 Broadway, the 1903 Harvey Dutton Dry Goods Company building at 802 Broadway, "the Paseo Pergola in the 1100 block of The Paseo," "the bandstand for Observation Park around 1910" at 21st and Holly Streets, the structures at Garrison Park (demolished), "the barn at 39th and Gillham built in 1904, and the Swope Park Entrance Building, also built in 1904."
