Description
An account of the 7th Kansas Calvary given by member S.M. Fox. Description includes their part and reputation concerning the Kansas-Missouri border troubles and repudiations of other's accounts of the regiment. "The Kansas regiments were rushed into service before they were half organized. None of them were well disciplined at the beginning, and many incompetent officers were at first selected. It took time to get rid of incompetency, and the governor did much harm in commissioning inexperienced men from civil life and sending them out to take places that men who had made good by efficient service were justly entitled to."
