Page 30: "It was about 1825 when Dan [Yoacham] first built a two-room, log cabin with a fireplace at each end in the little valley where Spring Branch Creek crossed the beginnings of the wagon road to Santa Fe, near where today Mill Street meets Westport Road. ..By the mid 1830s Dan. ..had greatly expanded the tavern and had furnished food and lodgeing to such personages as Washington Irving, Daniel Morgan Boone, Kit Carson, John C. Fremont, Jothan Meeker and Issac [sic] McCoy."
