Photo and obituary articles about Gypsy Rose Lee (1914-1970), "the queen of burlesque" appearing in the early 1930s as an unknown dancer at "the Cuban Gardens nightclub in Clay County," Missouri, before returning to Kansas City in 1937 (Music Hall) and 1938 (Tower Theater at 12th and Oak Streets) as a star with the Ziegfield Follies. Description of her life and career as a native of Seattle as Rose Louise Hovick and becoming a "vaudeville performer from childhood and a stripper in her teens," also hosting her own television show in the 1960s and writing several novels and an article for Harper's magazine in 1957 entitled "Stranded in Kansas City or a Fate Worse than Vaudeville."
