Description
Alvin Brooks, current mayor pro tem of Kansas City, announced on November 30, 2005, that he was running for mayor in 2007. He is known as an anti-crime crusader and said he wants to run "to do it to continue the progress of the city and build on what's been done and continue to try and build bridges and narrow the gap between north and south and various ethnic groups." Brooks is a former Kansas City police officer, assistant city manager, and first director of the city's Human Relations Department.
