Biographical sketch of Dr. William Wilkins, "a scholar, a writer, an orator, and a shining light in the medical profession." Born in Michigan in 1848 and serving the Union in the Civil War before coming to Kansas City in 1887 as a professor of medicine and dentistry, contributing articles to scholarly medical journals on alcoholism and founding the "Blues and Grays" Civil War veterans association in the 1890s.
