Pictures and review of downtown buildings built in the 1960s including the headquarters for the Kansas City School District at 12th and McGee (also former home the Kansas City Public Library from 1960-2004); former Gerson Jewelry Co. builindg at 500 Southwest Blvd.; Commerce Tower (909 Main St.); One Park Place, formerly the BMA Tower, 298 W. 31st St.; and Lathrop and Gage, formerly known as IBM Plaza, 2345 Grand Blvd. The article also includes buildings on Metcalf Avenue called the "Design Incubator" with pictures of Metcalf Bank, completed in 1962; former Katz drugstore at 75th Street and Metcalf Avenue; and D. W. Newcomer's Sons funeral parlor in Overland Park.
